The teacher (T) and the student (S) analyze a job advertisement. The T asks the S to imagine that he/she is interested in applying for this job but wishes to call the company in order to obtain more information before doing so. The T and the S decide what kind of information they would like to find out. Then, they role-play the telephone exchange.
The T asks the S to call him/her at an agreed time so that they can role-play the exchange over the phone. The T will play the part of the employer who has posted the advertisement and the S will play the part of the person who has read the advertisement and is interested in finding out more. The T also informs the S that he/she will be recording the phone call.
In the next lesson, the T and the S analyze the recorded phone call identifying points that were successful as well as areas for improvement.
